How does a Hamilton airport limo transfer work?
Give us your flight number when you book. We track the aircraft, meet you at Arrivals at John C. Munro Hamilton International in Mount Hope, and drive you to Hamilton, Burlington, Niagara or Toronto. The online booker shows the exact all-in fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm.
Hamilton's airport is the quiet one. It has fewer departures than Pearson, a smaller terminal and shorter walks, and for passengers who live or work in Hamilton, Burlington, Stoney Creek, Ancaster or the Niagara peninsula it can save an hour on each side of a trip. A Hamilton airport limo turns that advantage into a calm exit: your name on the booking, the flight on our tracker, and a vehicle sized to your party and your bags.
This page covers what the airport officially says about itself, which airlines and ground services it lists, the distances and drive times to the places people actually go, and an honest comparison with the bus, taxi and rideshare. All transfers are booked through our Toronto dispatch, and the online booker is the quickest way to see a fare.
Hamilton airport limo: the airport at a glance
The official name is John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport, and the address on its website is 9300 Airport Road, Mount Hope, Ontario L0R 1W0. Mount Hope is the southern edge of the city, on the plateau above the escarpment, which is why the road distance to the city centre is about 21 km even though the airport is inside Hamilton's boundaries.

The airport's FAQ page says it is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. That matters for overnight cargo flights and for the odd late passenger arrival, and it means a very early or very late pickup is a normal request.
The airport's history page says it was built in October 1940 as a wartime Air Force training station and became a public facility after the war. It is named for John Carr Munro, who lived from 1931 to 2003 and secured a federal expansion investment for the airport between 1981 and 1986, according to the same page. The airport describes itself as one of the nation's largest domestic air-cargo hubs, which explains the freighters you may see on the apron.
Airlines and routes at Hamilton
The airport's home page shows Porter Airlines, WestJet and Air Canada. On the day we checked its arrivals and departures listings, Porter was serving Winnipeg, Halifax, Montréal-Metropolitan, Vancouver and Edmonton, and Air Canada and Porter were both listed for Toronto. In June 2026 the airport also announced a new Porter nonstop service between Ottawa and Hamilton.
Schedules change with the season, so treat that as a snapshot and check the live board before you travel. What does not change is the planning advice: domestic arrivals normally clear quickly, and a smaller terminal means you often reach the curb sooner than you would at Pearson.
If you are choosing between airports for a trip, our airport limo Toronto page compares every airport in the region, and the Pearson airport limo page covers the larger alternative.
Where your car meets you at Hamilton Airport
The airport's ground transportation page lists the official arrangements:

- Taxis. Pick-up and drop-off is directly outside the Arrivals doors along the curb. Two companies are listed, Blue Line and Hamilton Cab.
- Rideshare. Uber and Lyft use the west end of the sidewalk, after the taxi zone.
- Public transit. The HSR A-Line Express, Route 20, connects the airport with downtown Hamilton, the Hamilton GO Transit Centre and Mohawk College's Fennell campus.
- Car rental. Four companies have counters in the Arrivals area next to the exit.
- Shuttles and limousines. The airport states that this service is not regularly scheduled and must be pre-arranged directly with the provider.
That last line is the important one for us. A pre-arranged black car is exactly what the airport expects for chauffeured service, and it means nobody is sitting at the curb on spec waiting for your flight. Your driver follows the aircraft. The airport does not publish a separate zone for pre-booked vehicles, so tell dispatch if you want a particular door.
We include 30 minutes of free waiting after landing on domestic arrivals and 60 minutes on international arrivals. Name-board meet-and-greet inside arrivals is available as an add-on.
Limo from Hamilton Airport to Hamilton and Burlington
Most local trips are short, and the main variable is the Mountain access roads at rush hour. Distances below are by road from the terminal.
| Destination | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Downtown Hamilton (City Hall area) | 21 km | 25–40 minutes |
| McMaster University | 21 km | 25–40 minutes |
| Burlington (Spencer Smith Park) | 33 km | 35–55 minutes |
| Oakville (town centre) | 49 km | 45–70 minutes |
| Guelph (downtown) | 67 km | 60–85 minutes |
The local pages go deeper: see Hamilton limo, limo service Burlington and Oakville limo for venues, neighbourhoods and typical event pickups. For a university run, the Mountain-to-campus drive is straightforward off-peak, and September move-in weekends are the exception.
A word on mornings: the climb and descent between the escarpment and the lower city is the part most likely to slow a car. An early flight home from a downtown hotel is easy; a 7:30 a.m. arrival into Burlington during the commute is less so. Tell us your actual deadline and the booker will help you pick a pickup time.
Hamilton airport to Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake
For many passengers, the real reason to fly into Hamilton is the Niagara peninsula. The road east runs along the Queen Elizabeth Way.

| Destination | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Niagara Falls (Clifton Hill area) | 90 km | 80–110 minutes |
| Niagara-on-the-Lake (old town) | 89 km | 85–110 minutes |
| Buffalo Niagara International (BUF) | 132 km | 2 to 2.5 hours, before the border |
Our Niagara Falls limo and Niagara-on-the-Lake limo pages cover hotels, theatres and wine-country pickups, and the wine tour limo page explains how winery tastings and a chauffeur fit together. Alcohol rules follow Ontario law, and anything served on board is confirmed at booking. We never promise drinks.
If your destination is Buffalo, the journey is a land crossing in the middle of a road trip. The CBSA advises carrying a valid Canadian passport for all visits abroad, and its travel documents page lists other accepted documents, including a NEXUS card, for re-entry. Border wait time is part of the trip, so build in a margin. See the Buffalo Airport limo page for crossing choices.
Hamilton Airport to Toronto and Pearson
Hamilton's airport is 77 km from Pearson and about 84 km from Union Station. The roads are the Queen Elizabeth Way, Highway 403 or Highway 6 and Highway 401, depending on the part of the GTA you are heading for. Allow 60 to 90 minutes to Pearson and 75 to 110 minutes to Union Station, with the long end of each range in the Friday afternoon rush.
Why make that trip rather than fly into Pearson? Usually because the airline serves Hamilton for the route you want, or because your starting point is Hamilton. If you end up needing to connect to a Pearson departure, leave a wide gap and tell the airline in advance. A tight connection that depends on 77 km of highway is a gamble.
For those arriving in the downtown core by rail afterwards, our Union Station car service page covers the pickup details.
Hamilton airport transportation compared
The public option is a real one, and for a light traveller going downtown it can be the right call.

| Option | Journey | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| HSR A-Line Express, Route 20 | To downtown Hamilton and the GO Transit Centre | Lowest (transit fare) | One traveller with a bag, going into the city |
| Taxi (Blue Line, Hamilton Cab) | 25–40 minutes to downtown | Meter plus surcharges | Unbooked local trips |
| Uber or Lyft | 25–40 minutes to downtown | Meter-style, can surge | Short rides when you have the app |
| Rental car | Counters in Arrivals | Rental rate plus fuel and parking | Several days of independent travel |
| Pre-arranged shuttle | Not regularly scheduled | Varies by provider | Group trips planned in advance |
| Private black car | Door to door | Fixed fare via booker | Burlington, Oakville, Niagara, Toronto, groups and luggage |
Be realistic about the transit leg. The HSR connection serves the city, not the surrounding towns, and many destinations on this page need a second connection or a long wait. For a family heading to a hotel in Niagara or a wedding in Ancaster, a car with a fixed fare is simpler. For a solo traveller going downtown, the bus is the lower-cost choice and a perfectly good one.
Vehicles for Hamilton airport transfers
Choose by passengers and by bags, not by what looks impressive.
- Executive Sedan: up to 3 passengers, with 2 large and 2 carry-on bags. A natural pick for a business traveller.
- Luxury SUV: six seats and space for five or six full-size cases, which suits a family returning from a winter holiday.
- Executive Sprinter: 12 to 14 seats and a dozen or more cases, for sports teams, wedding parties and delegations.
If your group wants a celebration that starts at the airport, ask about a stretch limousine or a party bus. Those are booked by the hour, and availability and the exact vehicle are confirmed at booking. The fleet page shows every class.
Child, toddler and booster seats are provided when requested at booking, so a family can arrive without carrying seats through the terminal.
Going to Hamilton Airport: departures from home or hotel
The same car works in reverse, and a departure is easier to plan than an arrival because you control the clock. Start from your airline's check-in guidance, then add the drive. From Burlington the airport is about 33 km, from downtown Hamilton about 21 km, and from Oakville about 49 km. Add a cushion for the climb up the escarpment if you start in the lower city, and a further cushion if the morning is wet or icy.
A quieter airport does not make a last-minute arrival safe. Choose a pickup time that leaves you comfortable, and let the booker confirm it before you pay.
If you are leaving a wedding, a hotel or a business meeting in the Niagara peninsula, give us the address of the pickup, the flight time and the number of bags. We will plan the departure around the road distance, which is about 90 km from the Falls and 89 km from Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Weddings, events and corporate pickups
Hamilton and Niagara draw guests from across the continent for weddings, and a wedding party that lands at the airport faces the same problem: eight or ten people, a pile of bags and a ceremony at 2 p.m. A Sprinter for the guests and a sedan for the couple, both timed to the same flight, is easier than three taxis.
Business travellers have different needs. Visiting engineers, auditors and executives often arrive early in the day and must be at a plant or an office by nine. A chauffeur lets them work in the back seat and arrive composed. Account customers and repeat travellers can ask about our corporate car service arrangements.
Late flights, cargo hours and the 24-hour airport
Because the airport never closes, you are not limited to a daytime window. A night flight that lands at 1 a.m. is a normal pickup. We watch the actual landing time, and the free waiting period starts from there. Share the flight number, and tell dispatch if you are travelling on a code-share, since the number you hold may not be the number on the aircraft.
Winter deserves a sentence. A cold-weather diversion or a de-icing delay can move a landing by hours. We follow the flight, not the schedule, so your car is not waiting at the wrong time.
Cancellations and changes
Our policy is measured from the scheduled pickup time. More than 72 hours' notice: no charge. 72 hours or less: 10%. 48 hours or less: 50%. 24 hours or less or a no-show: 100%. Flight delays are handled by tracking, so a late aircraft does not need a change.
