Do you need a limo at the Alt Hotel Toronto Airport?
For the terminals themselves, usually not: the free LINK train runs from Viscount station, outside the Alt Hotel, every 4 to 8 minutes, 24 hours a day. A black car makes sense for everything beyond the airport: downtown meetings, the 905, Waterloo, Niagara, and trips with heavy luggage or a group.
That is an unusual opening for a limousine company's page, but it is the honest one. The Alt Hotel Toronto Airport at 6080 Viscount Road, Mississauga, is built for the traveller who wants the shortest possible walk between a bed and a boarding gate. The hotel's own site says the free LINK train connects it to the airport terminals and economy parking, and that Viscount is the last stop on the line. If your only plan is to get to Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 and back with a bag or two, the train is hard to beat.
What the train does not do is take you to a boardroom on Bay Street, a plant in Brampton, a hotel in Waterloo or a restaurant in Yorkville. That is the work a booked chauffeur does, and it is what this page covers.
Why this hotel is unlike the others near Pearson
Most airport-district hotels depend on a shuttle van or a road transfer. The Alt's position is different. According to the hotel's directions page, the hotel is directly outside Viscount station: you go down the stairs, step outside, and the hotel is on your left. The LINK train is complimentary, runs 24 hours a day and arrives every 4 to 8 minutes, which makes airport access close to a non-event.

That has two consequences for transport planning.
- The airport leg is solved for free. You do not need to pay a chauffeur to cover 3 km you could ride in a few minutes at no cost.
- The value of a car moves to everything else. Guests at this hotel often have a downtown meeting, a client site in the 905, or a day trip. Those journeys are where time, luggage and certainty matter.
The hotel is operated by the Germain Hotels group, and its site describes bright, modern rooms, a 24-hour gym on the 14th floor, free Wi-Fi, a lobby breakfast and an on-site pizzeria. It also offers meeting rooms and a corporate offer for business events, without publishing room names or capacities on the pages we reviewed. We do not repeat numbers we could not see.
The distances that matter from Viscount Road
Our dispatch figures from the Alt Hotel are below. They assume free-flow traffic; add 10 to 20 minutes for the weekday peaks on the 401 and 427, more if there is a crash or weather.
| From the Alt Hotel to | Distance | Free-flow drive |
|---|---|---|
| Pearson Terminal 1 or 3 | about 3 km | about 5 min |
| Billy Bishop (mainland pickup, Eireann Quay) | about 25 km | about 24 min |
| Hamilton (YHM) | about 80 km | about 72 min |
| Union Station and downtown core | about 27 km, using the Pearson-to-Union distance as a guide | usually 30–50 min |
The booker shows the exact fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm, so none of those numbers is a quote.
When the LINK train is the better choice, and when it is not
The honest comparison is between the free train, the paid train, and a car.

| Option | What it covers | Time note | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LINK train | Viscount station, Terminal 1, Terminal 3, economy parking | trains every 4–8 min, 24 hours | free | Getting to and from the terminals with normal luggage |
| LINK plus UP Express | Pearson station to Union Station | about 10 min by LINK to the UP Express station, then about 25–28 min to Union | lowest of the paid options | Downtown, solo, light bag, flexible time |
| TTC 900 or GO bus from Terminal 1 | Kipling station and the wider network | several connections | lowest | Budget-minded and unhurried |
| Black car booked direct | Door to door, any address | one leg, usually 30–50 min to downtown | fixed fare via booker | Groups, heavy bags, fixed meeting times, comfort |
| Taxi or rideshare | Door to door | similar to a car | meter plus surge | No booking made, short notice |
The hotel's page says the UP Express Pearson station is about 10 minutes away by LINK and that UP Express reaches Union in about 25 minutes. The UP Express site itself advertises Pearson to downtown in 28 minutes, which is the figure to use if you are cutting it close. Its published adult one-way fare is $12.35, as of 2026.
A short rule of thumb: if you can do the trip in one train ride and you are travelling alone with a light bag, take the train. If you have a meeting and need to arrive composed, if you have two cases and a laptop bag, or if more than two of you are travelling, a car is simpler.
What a chauffeur does that the train cannot
There are four things.
- Takes you to an address, not a station. A Bay Street tower, a hospital, a client's head office, a hotel in Waterloo.
- Handles luggage. Cases go in the boot at one end and come out at the other. No lifts, no platforms, no stairs.
- Waits. An hourly booking holds the car at the kerb while you meet, so you can chain stops.
- Is on time to the minute. A fixed pickup replaces connections that depend on train frequency.
For anything involving more than one stop, see the hourly chauffeur page, and for company accounts, the corporate car service page.
Short stays, layovers and flight changes
This hotel suits tight itineraries: a late arrival, a morning meeting, an afternoon flight. It also suits travellers with a long layover who want to use a bed or a gym between flights. If you have a few hours and want to see something in the city, a booked car can take you out and bring you back to the terminal on time.

Use these as planning rules.
- Under three hours of layover: stay in the airport. A trip downtown rarely fits.
- Four to six hours: a quick run to a downtown address and back can work if the car waits and you are not clearing customs on the way.
- Overnight: use the hotel, and book the morning car or train once your itinerary is firm.
Flight tracking applies to every airport pickup, with 60 minutes of free waiting after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one. The Pearson airport limo page explains the terminal procedures, and airport meet and greet covers the name-board service. You can compare all the Greater Toronto airports on airport limo Toronto.
Downtown from the Alt: Bay Street, the waterfront and Union
The Alt Hotel is on the Mississauga side of the airport, and the road to Toronto runs east on the 401 or the 409 and 427 corridors before reaching the Gardiner Expressway. A weekday morning trip to the financial district is in the 30 to 50 minute band; at 4:30 p.m. the same trip can take longer. A sensible buffer is the difference between arriving relaxed and arriving flustered.
For a train departure, the Union Station car service page explains pickup points. For a general overview of how we run in the city, see limo service Toronto.
The 905 and beyond: where the car earns its place
Because the hotel is on the western edge of the airport district, it is closer to Mississauga and Brampton than to many Toronto hotels. That helps if your business is in the west GTA. Our Mississauga limo page covers the city, and the Brampton limo page covers the neighbouring one.

Longer runs from the airport district include:
- Kitchener-Waterloo: the Pearson to Kitchener-Waterloo page covers a route of about 95 km and 1 to 1.25 hours.
- Niagara Falls: about 130 km along the QEW; see Toronto to Niagara Falls.
- Hamilton and Burlington: the Hamilton Airport page explains the airport at Mount Hope, whose official site lists its address as 9300 Airport Road.
- Buffalo: the Buffalo airport page covers the border. Each passenger needs valid travel documents, and the border wait is part of the trip.
Families, seats and shared rooms
The hotel markets two room types, a two-bed room designed for couples or families and a one-bed room. Families who stay here before an early flight often ask about child seats. Child, toddler and booster seats are available when requested at booking, and the car seat page explains the details. If your children are small, the train is workable but a car avoids carrying seats, strollers and luggage together.
Business travel from a station hotel: a practical checklist
Guests who choose the Alt are often travelling light and on a tight schedule, which suits a lean booking approach. A few habits make the stay smoother.
- Decide the first move before you land. If your first meeting is downtown, book the car in advance and put the flight number on it. If you are staying near the airport for the day, the train is enough.
- Keep the return leg flexible. An hourly booking absorbs a meeting that runs long, while a fixed point-to-point trip suits a hard departure time.
- Think about the hotel's own parking only if you are driving. The hotel's site describes outdoor lots on the south side of the building, across from Viscount station; confirm current terms with the hotel if you are arriving by car.
- Use the gym and breakfast to your advantage. The 24-hour gym on the 14th floor and the daily lobby breakfast mean you can leave early without hunting for coffee, so a 6:30 a.m. pickup is realistic.
- Tell the chauffeur about stairs or mobility needs. The route from the station exit to the hotel involves steps, according to the hotel's directions, so mention any accessibility requirement when you book and we will plan the meeting point around it.
Weather, winter and delays
The train is a major advantage in a snowstorm because it is not affected by the 401. But the destination you are going to is. If you need to reach a downtown site on a day when the Gardiner is slow, a chauffeur who knows the alternatives is worth having, and a booking made the night before gives dispatch time to build in margin. In freezing rain, add time to every road leg, and keep in mind that the walk from the hotel to the station involves a flight of stairs with your bags.
If a flight is cancelled and you return to the hotel, a chauffeur booking for the next morning can be made from the booker at any hour. Our dispatch runs 24/7, so a rebooked itinerary does not wait for office hours.
Billy Bishop and Hamilton from Viscount Road
Not every guest flies from Pearson. Billy Bishop is at 2 Eireann Quay, and its site notes that taxis and limousines pick up and drop off on the mainland side, with a pedestrian tunnel and ferry to the island terminal. See our Billy Bishop airport page for the procedure. From the Alt the road distance is about 25 km, about 24 minutes in free-flow traffic.
Other airport hotels we serve
If your plans include another airport property, the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, Toronto Pearson is also on airport grounds. The full list is on our Toronto hotels hub. We are independent and not affiliated with the Alt Hotel or Germain Hotels, and a page like this does not mean the hotel recommends us.
