How does a limousine to Trois-Rivières work?

A limousine to Trois-Rivières is a pre-booked chauffeur transfer on Autoroute 40, 142 km from Montréal and about 120 km from Québec City, usually around 1 h 30 each way. We do not print fares on this site; the booker shows one fixed fare for your exact address and vehicle before you pay.

Trois-Rivières sits where the Saint-Maurice River meets the St. Lawrence, roughly halfway between the two biggest cities in Québec. Bonjour Québec calls it the second francophone city founded in North America, and it still behaves like a regional capital: a university campus, a historic quarter by the water, and a calendar of festivals that fill the hotels twice a year.

For a traveller, that midpoint position is the useful part. If your meeting is in Trois-Rivières, you do not want to rent a car at Montréal–Trudeau, cross the island in rush hour and hand the car back at the end. If you are going from Montréal to Québec City, a Trois-Rivières stop breaks the route into two comfortable legs. Limousine Trois-Rivières bookings through our Toronto dispatch cover both cases, with a licensed and commercially insured chauffeur.

Distances to and from Trois-Rivières

Tourisme Mauricie publishes a distance list for the city that is easy to work from. Drive times below are typical off-peak figures for Autoroute 40 and Autoroute 55; they stretch around Montréal at 4 pm and on summer Friday evenings.

The Forges du Saint-Maurice national historic site, run by Parks Canada, is about 15 km north of downtown Trois-Rivières, which makes it an easy side trip rather than a separate journey. Parks Canada gives 142 km from Montréal to the site by way of Autoroutes 40 and 55.

The midpoint stop between Montréal and Québec City

Most through traffic between the two cities stays on the north shore on Autoroute 40, which is the road that serves Trois-Rivières. The south-shore alternative is Autoroute 20, on the opposite bank of the river. Our Montréal to Québec City route page compares the two highways in more detail, including where the drive tends to slow down.

For a through passenger, the stop is a choice. A chauffeur will pull into the old quarter for lunch, wait with the vehicle while you eat, and rejoin the autoroute without any rental-car return or key hand-over. If you tell the dispatcher at booking that you want a meal stop, the schedule includes a realistic stop time and a table reservation window. A stop of one hour adds one hour to the journey; the booker shows the revised fare before you confirm.

The same logic works for corporate days. Two executives travelling from Québec City to a Montréal meeting, with a 45-minute site visit in Trois-Rivières, are better served by one car with one chauffeur than by two taxis and a train. Trois-Rivières has no passenger rail stop that fits that day: Tourisme Mauricie lists VIA Rail stations at La Tuque and Shawinigan but none in the city itself.

Vieux-Trois-Rivières and the riverfront

The historic quarter is the most visited part of the city. Bonjour Québec lists Boréalis, the museum on the pulp and paper industry, the Musée POP, the Musée Pierre-Boucher, the Vieille prison and Parc de l'île Saint-Quentin among the main stops, alongside the shops and galleries of the old centre.

Two sites matter for transport planning. The old-town museums cluster in the historic quarter, so a chauffeur can drop a group once and collect them an hour or two later. The Sanctuaire Notre-Dame-du-Cap, a national pilgrimage site, is in the Cap-de-la-Madeleine sector, away from the old centre. A visitor who plans both in one afternoon should think of them as two stops with a short drive between them, not a walk.

Trips of this kind are better booked by the hour than by the kilometre. An hourly booking holds the vehicle with you across the old quarter, the sanctuary and a dinner, and the booker shows the arrangement before you commit. Stretch limousines and party buses are booked this way, and availability and the exact vehicle are confirmed at booking.

FestiVoix, the Grand Prix and the busy weekends

Two annual events set the rhythm of Trois-Rivières. FestiVoix de Trois-Rivières is a music festival; its own site lists the 34th edition for 1 to 11 July 2027, with more than 130 shows on 15 stages over nine days. The Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières is a motorsport weekend held in August, and it draws spectators from across the province.

Both events change how the city moves. Hotel availability tightens, road closures redirect traffic, and a taxi at midnight can take a long time to find. If you are coming for either, book your return transfer when you book your hotel. A chauffeur can be at an agreed pickup point with a scheduled time, which is easier than hunting for a car in a festival crowd.

For concert-style trips, see our concert and sports limo page for how pickup after an event is planned. Larger corporate groups visiting for an event can use the event transportation page.

Shawinigan, Parc national de la Mauricie and the Forges

North of Trois-Rivières the road leads into the Mauricie proper. Shawinigan is 40 km away on Autoroute 55, about half an hour. It is the home of the Cité de l'énergie on Île Melville, which presents the region's twentieth-century industrial history, and it is the gateway to Parc national de la Mauricie. The park's Shawinigan-side entrance is at Chemin de Saint-Jean-des-Piles.

A day trip from Trois-Rivières to the park and back can fill a long summer day. A one-way booking suits visitors heading elsewhere: Montréal to Shawinigan, for example, passes through the Trois-Rivières area on Autoroute 40 and then turns north. Tourisme Mauricie also notes a nature shuttle to the park from Montréal and Québec City; a private car is the alternative when your group is larger than a shuttle seat, or when your hotel is not on the shuttle route.

The Forges du Saint-Maurice historic site, about 15 km north of the city centre, is the easiest short excursion for guests who are in the city for business and have a couple of free hours.

Airport pickups: Trudeau and Québec Jean-Lesage

Visitors usually fly into Montréal–Trudeau or Québec City's Jean-Lesage airport and drive to Trois-Rivières. Trois-Rivières has its own airfield, which Tourisme Mauricie lists as YRQ, but its access guide points visitors to the Montréal and Québec City airports, so plan on those two.

Our airport pickups include flight tracking, so the chauffeur sees the landing time rather than relying on the schedule. After an international arrival the chauffeur waits up to 60 minutes free after landing; for a domestic arrival it is 30 minutes. A name-board meet-and-greet inside arrivals can be added for families or first-time visitors. For terminal detail, see our pages for Montréal–Trudeau and Québec City airport.

Trudeau sits west of downtown Montréal, so the run to Trois-Rivières is somewhat longer than the 142 km from downtown, roughly 1 h 45 to 2 hours depending on the island crossing. Québec City's airport is also west of the city centre, so expect a little over the 120 km from Québec City, close to 1 h 30.

Business travel, hospitals and campus runs

Trois-Rivières is a service and industrial centre. Business trips are typically short: land at Trudeau, ride 142 km to a meeting, return that evening or the next morning. If you are bringing a client from Toronto, the Toronto to Québec City route shows how the full-day corridor trip works, and Trois-Rivières makes a natural overnight stop on the way.

For regular journeys, ask about corporate car service accounts. A named chauffeur, a booking history and a consistent vehicle make repeated trips easier to manage. Medical and campus runs follow the same pattern: give the booker the exact building and entrance, because large hospital and university sites have several.

Weddings, anniversaries and group outings

A wedding party travelling to Trois-Rivières from Montréal faces a simple piece of arithmetic: 142 km each way, around three hours of driving for the round trip, and a ceremony time that cannot move. We plan those days backwards from the ceremony. The vehicle leaves the Montréal pickup early enough to absorb a slow stretch of Autoroute 40, arrives with margin, and waits through the ceremony or returns, depending on what you booked. Our wedding limo page walks through multi-vehicle timelines for couples and guests.

Smaller celebrations work the same way. A group of six heading to a restaurant in the old quarter for an anniversary dinner fits a Luxury SUV; a party of ten to twelve for a milestone birthday may prefer a stretch limousine or an Executive Sprinter. Tell the desk the reservation time, not just the pickup time, and the dispatcher counts back from the table. If anyone in the group uses a mobility aid or needs a booster seat, mention it in the booking notes so the right vehicle is assigned.

A Montréal-based group that wants a loop rather than a one-way trip can book a return day: out on Autoroute 40, a few hours in the old quarter and at the riverfront, back the same evening. The total driving is about 284 km, a little under three hours behind the wheel, and the chauffeur stays with the vehicle so nobody has to find parking.

Honest comparison: ways to reach Trois-Rivières

There are three real choices for most people, and two of them do not involve a private car.

OptionTimeCost noteWho it suits
Intercity bus (Orléans Express)roughly two hours from Montréal; check the timetableLowestSolo travellers going city centre to city centre
Rental car1 h 30 plus pickup and returnDay rate plus fuelSelf-drive visitors with several stops
Taxi or ridesharesame as the driveMeter plus surgeShort trips inside the city only
Private chauffeur1 h 30 to 1 h 40Fixed fare via bookerGroups, luggage, late arrivals, events

Orléans Express stops at 275 rue Saint-Georges in Trois-Rivières and at Louiseville, according to Tourisme Mauricie. If you travel alone to a downtown hotel on a weekday, the bus is the lower-cost option and we say so. The case for a private car is strongest when the group is two or more, the baggage is heavy, the arrival is late, or the destination is outside the centre.

Winter driving between Montréal and Québec City

Autoroute 40 is the main winter route between the two cities, and a snowfall can slow it sharply. Québec requires winter tires on Québec-registered vehicles from December 1 to March 15, including rentals, and the province publishes the rule for travellers. Check the winter tire page before a trip, and tell the desk if you are leaving in a storm so dispatch can plan the timing.

Vehicles for Trois-Rivières trips

Choose the class by passengers and bags. The Executive Sedan carries up to three passengers with two large and two carry-on bags. The Luxury SUV carries six with five or six large bags. The Executive Sprinter takes 12 to 14 passengers and more than a dozen bags, which suits delegations and wedding parties. Child, toddler and booster seats are available when requested at booking. The fleet page shows all classes.

Booking and language

Booking takes a few minutes: enter pickup, destination and date, choose a vehicle, and see the fixed fare before you pay. Service is available in English and French in Québec. 24/7 dispatch handles changes on the day, including flight delays and a late finish after a festival evening. Our Québec hub lists the other cities on the corridor, and the Montréal limo page covers pickups at the Montréal end.
