Most of the travel between Canada's biggest cities happens along one strip of land: Windsor, London, Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa, Montréal and Québec City. A Toronto Montréal Ottawa car service takes advantage of that geography. One chauffeur, one vehicle, one fare, from your door in one city to your door in the next, with no terminal in between.
This hub lists every intercity route we run, with the distance, the usual drive time and the situations in which a private car beats the train, the plane or driving yourself. The booker shows the exact all-in fare for your pickup and drop-off addresses before you confirm.
What is a Toronto to Montréal or Ottawa car service?
It is a pre-booked private car with a licensed chauffeur that drives you between cities, door to door, at a fixed fare quoted before you pay. It replaces the train, the flight or a long self-drive when you have luggage, a group, a deadline or a meeting at the other end.
Booking takes a few minutes. Enter the pickup, the destination, the date and the vehicle class, and the booker shows the fare for that exact trip. Service is delivered in English and in French in Quebec, and every vehicle and chauffeur is licensed and commercially insured.
The main routes: distance and drive time
Distances are approximate road distances; drive times assume ordinary conditions and exclude stops. Allow more at rush hour, on Friday afternoons and in winter weather.

| Route | Distance | Typical drive time | Page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toronto to Montréal | about 540 km | 5.5–6.5 hours | Toronto to Montréal |
| Toronto to Ottawa | about 450 km | 4.5–5 hours | Toronto to Ottawa |
| Ottawa to Montréal | about 200 km | 2–2.5 hours | Ottawa to Montréal |
| Montréal to Québec City | about 250 km | 2.5–3.5 hours | Montréal to Québec City |
| Toronto to Québec City | about 800 km | 8–9 hours | Toronto to Québec City |
| Toronto to Kingston | about 260 km | 2.75–3 hours | Toronto to Kingston |
| Toronto to London, Ontario | about 190 km | about 2 hours | Toronto to London |
The figures for Ottawa line up with Ottawa Tourism's own guide, which lists Toronto at about 4.5 hours and Montréal at about 2 hours, and with Visit Québec City, which gives Montréal to Québec City as about 250 km and 2.5 to 3.5 hours.
Regional routes around Toronto, Niagara and cottage country
Not every long trip is between big cities. These are the runs we book most from the Toronto base:
- Toronto to Niagara Falls: about 130 km, 80–100 minutes
- Pearson to Kitchener-Waterloo: about 95 km, 1–1.25 hours
- Toronto to Muskoka: about 180–220 km depending on the resort, 2–3 hours, longer on Friday afternoons
- Toronto to Blue Mountain: about 160 km, 2–2.5 hours
- Toronto to London, Ontario: about 190 km, about 2 hours
Each page explains the highways, the places to stop and the arrival logistics at the other end, so the hub does not repeat them.
Cross-border routes: Buffalo, Detroit and the Windsor crossing
Three routes cross the border and add a variable that the others do not have: the wait at the bridge or tunnel. Passengers need valid travel documents, and the border wait is part of the trip, so the times below are the road portion only.

- Toronto to Buffalo airport: about 160 km, 1.75–2.5 hours plus the crossing
- Toronto to Detroit: about 370 km, 4–4.5 hours plus the crossing
- Windsor to Detroit: the short crossing by bridge or tunnel, with the airport and downtown options
Montréal and the Quebec side
From Montréal, the common destinations for private-car transfers are the mountains and the countryside:
- Montréal to Mont-Tremblant: about 130 km from downtown, about 150 km from the airport, roughly 1.5 to 2 hours
- Montréal to the Eastern Townships: Highway 10 to Bromont, Magog and Sherbrooke, roughly 1 to 1.75 hours
For the city-end details, see our Montréal limousine service and the Quebec hub. VIA Rail passengers arriving at Gare Centrale can read the Montreal Central Station page; the Québec City page and the Ottawa Station page cover the other two ends of the corridor.
Comparison: private car, train, plane or driving yourself

| Option | Time on the corridor | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private chauffeur car | Door to door, drive time only | Fixed fare via booker | Luggage, groups, working on the way, hard deadlines |
| VIA Rail | Station to station, check-in and transfers at each end | Often the lowest for solo travellers | One traveller, light bags, city-centre to city-centre |
| Flight | Short in the air, long at airports | Varies by date | Toronto to Québec City when time matters most |
| Intercity bus | Slower, fixed stops | Lowest | Flexible budgets with time to spare |
| Driving yourself | Same road time, plus parking at the end | Fuel, tolls and parking | Several stops of your own choosing, independent plans |
The straight answer is that VIA Rail is often cheaper for one person with a single bag between two city centres, and a flight is quicker for a very long haul. A private car is the best answer when there are two or more passengers, when the starting point or destination is outside the city centre, or when you want to use the time to work or sleep.
Choosing the vehicle
- Executive Sedan: up to 3 passengers, 2 large and 2 carry-on bags.

- Stretch Limousine and mini-coach / party bus: hourly vehicles for events; availability and the exact vehicle are confirmed at booking.

Road conditions and planning
Check Ontario's 511 service for highway conditions and construction before a long trip, and allow for the 401 at its busiest in and around Toronto. In Quebec the signs, the radio and the person at the filling station are in French, which is one reason a bilingual chauffeur makes the Quebec legs easier.

Visit Québec City recommends routing a Toronto to Québec City rail trip through Montréal, since there is no direct train; by road it is a single long day or an overnight plan, which we will help you structure at booking.
