Can TorontoBlackLimousine.net take me from Toronto into the USA?
Yes. Our Toronto dispatch runs chauffeured cross-border trips from Toronto, Ottawa and Montréal to US cities such as Buffalo, New York City, Boston and Detroit. These are international trips only: we take you across the border and back, and the booker shows the fixed fare before you confirm.
A cross-border limo from Toronto is the same service you would book for Pearson or a Bay Street meeting, with one extra layer of planning: the border. The chauffeur knows which crossing suits your destination, what the wait looks like at that hour and what you need in your hands when the officer asks. You sit in the back, the passports are in your jacket, and the trip is one booking instead of a rental, a toll account and a long morning of navigation.
Start with the page that matches your destination, or read this hub first for the rules that apply to every crossing. When you are ready, get an instant fare in the booker and the exact amount for your addresses and vehicle appears before you pay.
What a Canadian-based car can and cannot do in the USA
Plain words, because this is the question that matters most. Our vehicles and chauffeurs are based in Canada and licensed here. We sell international trips: Toronto, Ottawa or Montréal to a US destination, and back again, or a one-way run that ends on the other side.

We do not offer local point-to-point rides inside the United States. A pickup in Manhattan that ends in Brooklyn, a hotel-to-airport hop in Boston, a day of stops around Detroit: those are local US legs, and a Canadian-based car does not run them.
When your plan includes a local US leg, say so at booking. Our desk arranges a US network car for that part of the trip, so you deal with one team from the first message to the last drop-off.
Toronto to the USA: the routes at a glance
Distances are road distances from downtown Toronto, produced with an open routing engine and rounded; treat every figure as about. Drive times are free-flow driving only. Border wait, fuel stops and rush hour are separate, and the border is the biggest variable.
| Trip from Toronto | Distance | Driving time |
|---|---|---|
| Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY | 133–160 km | 1 h 45 min – 2 h |
| Detroit | 375 km | 4 h 30 min |
| Cleveland | 465 km | 5 h 45 min |
| Pittsburgh | 505 km | 6 h 15 min |
| New York City | 760 km | 9 h 30 min |
| Newark, NJ | 745 km | 9 h 30 min |
| Philadelphia | 760 km | 9 h 30 min |
| Washington, DC | 770 km | 10 h |
| Boston | 885 km | 10 h 45 min |
Past about 500 km, plan a full day or split the journey in two. The longer pages explain the overnight options.
Cross-border limo from Ottawa and Montréal
From Montréal the short runs are Burlington, Vermont (about 150 km, roughly 2 hours), Boston (about 490 km, roughly 6 hours) and New York City (about 590 km, roughly 7 hours 30 minutes). The usual crossing is Lacolle on Highway 15. The Plattsburgh airport page covers the closest US airport to the south. From Ottawa, New York City is about 690 km. Start from the Ottawa limo or Montréal limo pages.

The Canada Border Services Agency notes that work on the primary inspection line at Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle is expected to end in winter 2027, so waits there may run longer than normal until then.
Which border crossing will your car use?
- Niagara frontier. The Peace Bridge links Fort Erie, Ontario with Buffalo, New York. The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission runs the Rainbow Bridge and the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge for cars and the Whirlpool Rapids Bridge for NEXUS members only. For Buffalo and anywhere east on the Thruway, the Peace Bridge is usually first choice.
- Windsor and Detroit. See the Windsor to Detroit crossing and the Detroit airport page.
- Lacolle and Champlain. The Montréal gateway to New York State and, from there, New England.
The chauffeur makes the final call on the day using live wait times. The US government's wait-time feed lists the Peace Bridge port as open 24 hours a day and reports standard and NEXUS lanes separately, updated about hourly.
Documents you need for the border
Everything here comes from official sources and can change, so confirm when you book and again the day before you travel.

- Canadian citizens aged 16 and over need a valid passport or a valid Trusted Traveller card such as NEXUS for land travel, according to the Government of Canada's US travel advice.
- Canadians aged 15 and under may travel by land with a passport, an original or copy of a birth certificate, or an original citizenship certificate. Canadians under 19 travelling with a school or organized group need written parental consent.
- Dual US-Canadian citizens must enter the United States on their US passport.
- U.S. Customs and Border Protection lists NEXUS among accepted trusted traveller cards on its land and sea entry page.
- Permanent residents of Canada and other nationalities travel on the passport of their country of citizenship and must check US entry rules, including any visa, before booking.
A passport is the most widely accepted document, so carry it whenever you have one. Government of Canada advice warns that any criminal record, however old, may lead to refused entry, and that cannabis cannot be taken across the border even into a US state where it is legal. Declare everything, answer plainly and expect that phones can be examined.
NEXUS and border wait times
The CBSA's NEXUS page lists dedicated vehicle lanes at 16 land crossings into the United States and, as of 2026, a US$120 application fee and five-year membership. Each traveller needs their own card to benefit, so one cardholder in a car of three does not automatically qualify. If everyone in the car holds a card, the NEXUS lane is used.
Check the CBP border wait times for US-bound traffic and the CBSA wait times for the return. Long weekends, Friday afternoons, Sunday evenings and big events in Buffalo or Toronto are the busy windows, and we tell you at booking if a time looks tight. The Peace Bridge site adds live traffic.
Coming home: what you can bring back to Canada
The CBSA's guide for residents returning to Canada sets the personal exemption by time away. Under 24 hours, there is none: personal exemptions do not apply to same-day cross-border shoppers. After 24 hours it is up to CAN$200, with no alcohol or tobacco. After 48 hours or more it is up to CAN$800, with alcohol within limits of 1.5 L of wine, 1.14 L of spirits or 8.5 L of beer. Declare firearms and weapons, and expect an oral declaration in a private vehicle.
Car, flight or train
| Option | Best for | Honest note |
|---|---|---|
| Chauffeured car | 2–6 travellers, heavy luggage, multi-stop days | Longest door to door on long routes; fixed fare via the booker |
| Scheduled flight | One traveller going 700 km or more in a hurry | Quicker in the air; airport time and ground transport add up |
| Amtrak Maple Leaf | Toronto to New York at a relaxed pace | Amtrak lists 12 h 30 min, one daily departure |
| Rental car | Self-drive on your own timeline | You handle the crossing and paperwork |
A lone traveller with a firm New York meeting time should usually fly. A car wins for Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Detroit, and wherever three or more people share one vehicle. The fleet page lists the classes: Executive Sedan up to 3 passengers, Luxury SUV up to 6, Executive Sprinter 12 to 14. Child, toddler and booster seats are available when requested at booking.
How to book a trip into the USA
Enter the pickup and destination in the booker, add passengers, bags and child seats, and the exact fare appears before you pay. For multi-day itineraries, send the plan to the travel desk. The cross-border limo overview explains the service further, and the Buffalo day trip guide shows a typical Saturday.

Cancellation, measured from the scheduled pickup time: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100%.
Frequently asked questions
Do you offer rides inside the USA?
No. We run international trips only, from Canada into the US and back. For a local US leg, such as a hotel-to-airport transfer in New York, our desk arranges a US network car.
What do I need to cross the border by car?
Canadian citizens aged 16 and over need a valid passport or a valid Trusted Traveller card such as NEXUS. Younger children have other options. Other nationalities should check CBP and the Government of Canada before booking.
How long is the border wait?
It varies by crossing, day and hour. The CBP and CBSA pages show current figures, and the chauffeur uses them to choose the crossing. Treat the wait as a separate variable on top of driving time.
Can I use a NEXUS lane in a limousine?
Each traveller needs their own card to benefit. If everyone in the car is a member, the NEXUS lane is used; if not, the standard lane is.
How much is a limo from Toronto to Buffalo?
The distance is about 160 km, roughly 2 hours of driving plus the border. The booker shows the exact fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm, and the fare is fixed.
Can I bring shopping back to Canada?
Yes, within the CBSA exemption for your time away. Same-day trips have no exemption, so declare everything.
Do you pick up in Ottawa and Montréal for US trips?
Yes. Montréal to Burlington, Boston and New York City each have a page, and Ottawa trips follow the same border rules.
What if my crossing is delayed?
The border wait is part of the trip. The chauffeur stays with you, switches crossing if another is quicker and keeps dispatch updated on the arrival time.
