How do I book a limo for Shangri-La Toronto?
Use the TorontoBlackLimousine.net booker: enter Shangri-La Toronto, 188 University Avenue, as pickup or drop-off, add your flight or meeting times, choose a vehicle and confirm. The exact fare for your address appears before payment, and your chauffeur confirms the arrival point with the hotel on the day.
Shangri-La Toronto occupies a corner of the downtown core where University Avenue meets Adelaide Street. The hotel describes itself as soaring high above the city in one of Toronto's tallest buildings, with 202 rooms and suites and a Forbes Travel Guide five-star rating. Its location is a business one: it sits close to the banks, the law firms and the performing arts venues, and a ten-minute walk from Union Station. For travellers who arrive on short notice and leave on a tight schedule, a car that is already outside matters more than a lobby view.
Our limo service for Shangri-La Toronto covers airport transfers, hourly black car for corporate days and car service for weddings, galas and evenings out. This page sets out the distances and drive times we plan around, where a private car is the better choice and where it is not, and how events at the hotel work from a transport point of view. For an exact all-in fare, the booker quotes your specific address and vehicle.
The Simcoe Street entrance and how a car arrives
The hotel gives its address as 188 University Avenue, but its map and directions page states that the main entrance is on Simcoe Street, between Richmond and Adelaide Streets. That is useful for a chauffeur, because the front of the building does not face the avenue most people expect. Valet parking is offered 24 hours a day according to the same page, for vehicles under 2.3 metres (7.7 feet), and larger vehicles must self-park off site.

For us, that means a Luxury SUV and an Executive Sedan can work from the hotel's own arrival area, while a Sprinter van is usually staged nearby and called to the door when your party is ready. We do not publish an exact stopping point because it is the hotel's to manage and it changes with events. Your chauffeur checks the position with the hotel on the day, then texts the plate, the vehicle and where the car is waiting.
Shangri-La Toronto to Pearson Airport: the plan
Pearson is about 29 km from the hotel and takes roughly 27 minutes in free-flow conditions. Traffic is rarely free-flow when travellers want it to be. A weekday morning toward the airport, or an afternoon return between 3:30 and 7 p.m., can stretch to 45 to 75 minutes, and a lane closure on the Gardiner adds more. We plan the departure from the hotel against the airline's check-in window and add a margin for the day of week.
For arrivals, we track every flight. There is no waiting charge for the first 60 minutes after an international landing or the first 30 after a domestic one. If your guest is landing for the first time, add a name-board meet-and-greet inside arrivals and the driver meets them and takes charge of the bags. Our Pearson Airport limo page explains how pre-arranged pickups work at the terminals.
| Run from the hotel | Distance | Free-flow drive | Weekday peak |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) | about 29 km | about 27 min | 45 to 75 min |
| Billy Bishop (YTZ), mainland pavilion | about 3 km | about 6 min | 12 to 25 min |
| Hamilton (YHM) | about 85 km | about 76 min | 95 to 125 min |
Shangri-La Toronto to Billy Bishop
Billy Bishop is about 3 km from the hotel, six minutes in light traffic and 12 to 25 minutes when University Avenue and Lake Shore are heavy. The terminal is on the island, so every journey ends at the mainland pavilion at the foot of Eireann Quay, with a walk through the pedestrian tunnel or a short ferry crossing. The airport's pick-up and drop-off guidance allows chauffeured cars a brief stop at the curb or a turning-circle spot with a maximum 5-minute wait when a passenger is confirmed, which is why we ask for flight details in advance.

For a business traveller flying a short-haul route, this is often the best airport run in the city: a quick pickup, a ten-minute drive and a tunnel. Read more on our Billy Bishop airport limo page, including what to do if the ferry is the quicker option.
Hamilton John C. Munro, when the flight is from there
For flights from Hamilton's John C. Munro airport, the drive is about 85 km and a free-flow 76 minutes along the QEW, with the slowest stretch between Mississauga and Burlington on a Friday afternoon. We schedule the car around your check-in and keep an eye on the QEW for incidents. See Hamilton airport limo service for the terminal procedure, and our airport limo comparison for Toronto when you are choosing between airports.
Honest comparison: Pearson and downtown options

| Option | Time to Pearson | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| UP Express from Union Station | about 25 min on the train, plus the walk to Union | lowest cost on a published fare | one traveller, one bag, daytime |
| TTC and transfer | over an hour | lowest cost, two-hour transfer | no luggage, no hurry |
| Taxi | 27 to 75 min | meter plus extras | unplanned trips |
| Rideshare | 27 to 75 min | surge in peak periods | quick phone pickups |
| Private car, booked direct | 27 to 75 min | fixed fare via booker | luggage, groups, early flights, clients |
The hotel's directions page says Union Station is a ten-minute walk south and that UP Express trains depart every 15 minutes for a 25-minute journey. The UP Express site lists the stations and fares, and the standard one-way adult fare from Pearson to Union was $12.35 in 2026. For one passenger with a single bag, that is the lowest-cost way in or out, and a ten-minute walk with a rolling case is easy in good weather. A car becomes the sensible option when the weather is bad, the luggage is heavy, the flight is early, or when your first stop is not downtown at all. Our comparison of limos and rideshare sets this out in more depth.
Union Station, VIA Rail and GO
Union Station is where Shangri-La guests meet the rest of Ontario and Québec. VIA Rail trains arrive from Ottawa and Montréal, and GO trains serve the commuter belt. The Toronto Union Station site dates it to August 1927 and notes its national historic site designation in 1975. For a guest who is arriving by train and heading somewhere in the GTA rather than to the hotel, we collect them at the station and drive directly. Our Union Station car service page lists the pickup approach.
What is nearby: banks, the opera and Queen Street West
The hotel's opening announcement described it as within five blocks of the opera and ballet venue, the headquarters of Canada's five major banks and the TIFF headquarters. Today's hotel page puts Queen Street West a six-minute walk away along University Avenue, with the Art Gallery of Ontario, the waterfront and Yonge Street within easy reach. The opening announcement also records that the hotel is the first 17 floors of a 66-storey tower and that it opened in October 2012.

That mix of banks and culture means a typical Shangri-La guest uses a car in two ways. During the day, the car is for the meetings that cannot be reached on foot. In the evening, it is for the theatre, the opera, a restaurant across town, or a late flight. Our guide to Roy Thomson Hall and the theatre district covers show-night pickups, and our notes on the AGO and Kensington Market explain when a car helps and when it is easier to walk.
Boardroom to ballroom: events at Shangri-La Toronto
The hotel's event spaces are on the third floor. Its event spaces page lists the Queen's Park Ballroom at 341.86 square metres with a reception capacity of 350, plus Queen's Park North and South, the Museum room with a 7.5-metre ceiling, Rosedale, King, University, a screening room for 44, and an outdoor garden terrace of 279 square metres with a reception capacity of 130. The Queen's Park Ballroom can be divided into two sections.
For a corporate dinner, the transport brief is almost always the same: principals arrive by Executive Sedan or Luxury SUV in a staggered sequence, guests who are not staying at the hotel are collected from their offices, and everyone leaves at about the same time. We plan the loop, assign a driver per vehicle, and use dispatch to release cars to the door in the order guests ask for them. Our event transportation page explains this in more detail. For delegations, an Executive Sprinter seats 12 to 14 passengers with 12 or more bags, and a stretch limousine (8 to 10 passengers) or mini-coach (20 to 30 passengers) is available by the hour; availability and the exact vehicle are confirmed at booking.
Weddings and celebrations
The hotel also hosts weddings and celebrations in the same event rooms. A wedding party needs a different transport plan from a conference: the couple's car arrives last and leaves first, family members move in small groups, and the photographer has a list of stops. Our wedding limo service covers the timeline for Toronto, the GTA and beyond, and our stretch limousine page describes capacity and occasions. On alcohol, Ontario law applies, the details are confirmed at booking, and nothing is promised on board.
Hourly black car for a downtown business day
A boardroom day from Shangri-La Toronto rarely stays in one block. A 9 a.m. call at a bank tower, a lunch on Bay Street, a site visit in Mississauga and a dinner at Bosk or Mott 32, both listed on the hotel's page, is a normal sequence. A chauffeur by the hour turns it into one booking. Our hourly chauffeur service covers minimum hours and waiting time, and our corporate car service page describes accounts and monthly invoicing.
For a team, we match the vehicle to the load. An Executive Sedan holds up to 3 passengers with 2 large and 2 carry-on bags. A Luxury SUV holds up to 6 with 5 to 6 large bags. See the fleet page for the details.
Trips beyond downtown
Waterloo Region is the most common out-of-town trip for guests with a technology agenda. It is about 95 km from Pearson and a little more from downtown, usually 1 to 1 hour 15 minutes by the 401; see Pearson to Kitchener-Waterloo and our Kitchener-Waterloo limo service. Hamilton is the gateway to the escarpment waterfalls and the Royal Botanical Gardens, covered on the Hamilton limo page. For a theatre-minded visitor, our Stratford Festival guide explains the matinee and evening options.
In winter, the city lights up for the holidays, and the Cavalcade of Lights guide shows how to reach Nathan Phillips Square without a long walk in the cold.
Standards, hotels nearby and who we are
Vehicles and chauffeurs are licensed and commercially insured, with 24-hour dispatch behind every trip, and the fare in the booker is the fare you pay. Ask for a child, toddler or booster seat when you book. Nothing here implies any connection with the hotel.
If you are weighing your options, see our pages on The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto, the Fairmont Royal York and The St. Regis Toronto, or the full list of Toronto hotels we serve.
