Halloween Haunt at Canada's Wonderland, seen from the drop-off

Halloween Haunt turns Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan into an after-dark scare park for part of every autumn. The park describes it as running on select nights, and for 2026 it listed 25 September to 1 November, with the evening programme starting at 6 PM. Dates change each year, so the official Halloween Haunt page is the place to confirm which nights are on before you fix a date.

It is a very good group outing and a poor one to organise around a single driver. People arrive in costume-adjacent moods, leave late, and want to talk about the maze they just survived rather than the 400 northbound. That is the case for a booked car or a small bus, and it is what this page covers: distance, timing, how arrival and pickup really work, and when GO, YRT or the subway are the sensible alternative.

If you already know the group size and want a fixed fare from your own address, get an instant fare and the booker shows the exact all-in fare for your pickup, vehicle and time before you confirm. The rest of this guide is the context behind that choice.

How do you get to Canada's Wonderland from Toronto?

Canada's Wonderland is at 1 Canada's Wonderland Drive in Vaughan, roughly 35 km north of downtown Toronto and about 30 km from Pearson. The drive normally takes 35 to 60 minutes by Highway 400, longer on Friday evenings. A booked car or small bus takes the group door to door.

Those distances are approximate road figures for planning, taken from the park's address rather than a specific gate. Real drive time depends on the time of day more than the kilometres. A Tuesday-evening run from midtown is half an hour of easy motorway; a Friday departure from downtown at five o'clock can be double that, with the 400 and Highway 401 both busy.

When Halloween Haunt runs and what the schedule means for you

The park publishes the 2026 schedule as select nights between 25 September and 1 November, with the evening starting at 6 PM. Three published rules shape your arrival time more than anything else:

  • Guests must enter the park before 10 PM, or 11 PM on Fridays, and nobody is admitted after that.
  • Re-entry is not permitted on Thursdays and Fridays. On weekends, re-entry ends at 7 PM.
  • Costumes are not permitted after 6 PM, and children under 10 may wear costumes before then for the Tricks and Treats programming.

Read those together and a plan appears. If you want a full evening, aim to be at the gate soon after 6 PM, not at 9:30. If your group wants dinner outside the park, do it before you enter on a Thursday or Friday, because leaving means you cannot come back in. On a weekend you have until 7 PM to step out and return.

Costume policy is also worth planning around if you are travelling in a group. Anything that conceals identity, including makeup and masks, is not permitted by the park, and bags are searched before entry. Dress in the car, not at the gate.

Who should go: ages, chaperones and teenage groups

The park's own guidance is that Halloween Haunt is not recommended for guests under 13, and a chaperone policy takes effect at 4 PM. One attraction, The Conjuring: Beyond Fear, is recommended for ages 13 and up.

That makes the event popular with teenage friend groups and with adult groups, and it is where a car service is genuinely useful to parents. If you are arranging a ride for teenagers, the booking should name the adult responsible, the pickup and drop-off addresses, and the agreed time to be at the gate. Read the park's chaperone rules before the evening so nobody is turned away at the gate.

Two points from our side of the dispatch desk:

  • A ride home needs a firm meeting point in the park's designated pick-up area. The park publishes a Passenger Pick-Up and Drop-Off section on its directions page, and your chauffeur confirms the exact spot on the night.
  • A phone at full charge matters more than a costume.

For younger children, the park's Tricks and Treats programming runs before the 6 PM costume cut-off, so the family guide to the summer season, Canada's Wonderland family day, is a better starting point.

What is in the park: scare zones, mazes and the one add-on

According to the park, the scare zones are CarnEvil, Gates of Terror, Kingdom of Carnage, Necropolis, Streets of the Undead, Trick-or-Treat Street and Wicked Hollow. The haunted mazes are Cornstalkers, Dark Ride, Demons of the Deep, Spirit Manor, The Crypt and The Ruins. Maze access requires a Haunted Attractions Pass, and that pass is not valid for The Conjuring: Beyond Fear, which is a separate online-only purchase of about twenty minutes. Park admission is separate from both.

Filming, video recording and flash photography are prohibited inside the mazes. Whatever the group ends up wanting, buy tickets and passes through the park, not through a third party, and read the current terms on the official page. Passes, tickets and any associated fees are set by the park and change by year, which is why we do not list them here.

The arrival plan: a car, an SUV, a Sprinter or a party bus

Which vehicle fits depends on the group, and the vehicle classes are the same ones you see for every trip with us:

Black luxury SUV on a mountain road
Black luxury SUV on a mountain road
  • Executive Sedan: up to 3 passengers with two large and two carry-on bags.
  • Luxury SUV: up to 6 passengers.
  • Executive Sprinter: 12 to 14 passengers, a good shape for a large friend group or a family reunion night out. See Sprinter van service.
  • Mini-coach or party bus: 20 to 30 passengers, booked by the hour. See party bus Toronto.

Stretch limousines, party buses and coaches are booked by the hour, and availability and the exact vehicle are confirmed at booking. For a group that wants the ride to be part of the night, a party bus works as a shared space on the way up and a quiet space on the way home. For a smaller group that just wants an easy evening, a Luxury SUV is the simplest choice.

The arrival reality: where the car stops and what happens next

The park publishes a section for passenger pick-up and drop-off on its directions page. We do not guess at gate numbers, and a chauffeur arriving on a busy Haunt night uses the instructions the park gives on the day. In general terms:

  1. The vehicle approaches the park from the main road system and follows the signage to the passenger zone.
  2. Everyone gets out together, with bags kept to a minimum because bags are searched at entry.
  3. The chauffeur leaves the zone promptly so the next vehicle can use it.

For the return, the trouble is not the drive but the park's closing time. On a busy night a very large crowd leaves through the same gates at once, and the passenger area fills quickly. Agree the meeting point and approximate time before you go in, and write both on the booking. Do not plan to be the last group out, because every minute of waiting at the kerb is a minute your chauffeur could lose in a queue.

Safe ride home: why a booked car beats driving yourself

Anyone who has watched a car park empty late at night knows the problem. Fatigue, a long motorway drive in the dark and a post-scare adrenaline crash is a poor combination. A booked chauffeur means the whole group can be passengers.

Alcohol rules follow Ontario law and are confirmed at booking, and we never promise drinks on board. Prom and graduation trips are strictly alcohol-free. For adult groups heading to a dinner or a drink before or after the park, the point of the car is the ride, not the bar.

Our vehicles are licensed and commercially insured, chauffeurs are licensed, dispatch is 24/7 from Toronto, and the fare is fixed and quoted before you pay. If your plans shift, cancellation is measured from the scheduled pickup time. More than 72 hours' notice has no charge; 72 hours or less is 10%; 48 hours or less is 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show is 100%.

Honest comparison: transit, rideshare, driving yourself or a chauffeur

The park's directions page lists driving, York Region Transit, the TTC, GO Transit and UP Express as ways to arrive. For some people, public transit is the better answer.

OptionTypical journeyCost noteWho it suits
TTC subway to Vaughan, then local busSlower, with a transfer; check last-service times for the returnLowestSolo visitors and pairs who live on the Line 1 corridor
GO or YRT with a transferDepends on origin and time of nightLowConfident transit users in Vaughan and York Region
Drive yourself and parkFast out, easy in, slower home after a late nightParking at the park's rateGroups with a sober designated driver
Taxi or rideshareQuick in, hard to get at closing timeMeter plus surgeShort trips from nearby
Private chauffeur or party busDoor to door both ways, fixed fareFixed fare via bookerGroups of 4 to 30, teenagers with a named adult, late returns

The cheaper option is often the better one for a single adult living near a subway line. A private vehicle wins for groups of four or more, for anyone travelling from the suburbs, and for every ride home after the last mazes close. Check TTC service alerts the day you go if you plan to use the subway.

Weather, queues and what to carry

Late September to early November in southern Ontario can mean anything from a mild evening to a wet, windy night near freezing. Dress for standing in queues outdoors, and carry less than you think, because bags are searched at entry. A waterproof layer beats a heavy coat, and comfortable shoes beat any costume footwear.

Queues vary by night, and the park publishes different re-entry rules for weekdays and weekends. None of that changes the transport plan: arrive early, keep the group together and give the chauffeur your meeting point before you go in.

Accessibility and mobility

The park has an Accessibility section on its website, and attractions have their own entry requirements, so contact the park directly for individual questions about mazes. For the vehicle side, tell us at booking if anyone in your group needs step-free boarding, a wheelchair space, or a short walk from drop-off, and the booking can be set up around it. Child, toddler and booster seats are available when requested at booking.
