A golf day in Oakville is mostly a logistics puzzle with a good course at the end of it. The clubs are heavy, the tee time is fixed, the group is rarely all in one place at the start, and at least one person would like to enjoy the day properly and not be the designated driver. A chauffeured car solves most of that. This guide covers what the Oakville golf scene looks like, how far it is from Toronto and Pearson, how the car, the bags and the tee time fit together, and when the GO train or your own car is the sensible choice instead.

It is written from the curb, so the emphasis is on the drive, the drop-off and the pickup rather than on club selection. Our Oakville limo service page covers the city more broadly.

Where can you play golf in Oakville?

Oakville's main golf options are Glen Abbey Golf Club on Dorval Drive, a Jack Nicklaus design that opened in 1976, Oakville Executive Golf Courses on Fourth Line (Angel's View, 9 holes, and Mystic Ridge, 18 holes), and Deerfield Golf Club on North Service Road West. Driving ranges and an indoor simulator centre round out the list.

The Town of Oakville's own tourism listing, Visit Oakville, names these courses and facilities with their addresses. We use those addresses here, and we recommend you confirm tee times, dress rules and access with each club directly, because public versus member access and seasonal rules are the clubs' own to set.

Glen Abbey Golf Club

Glen Abbey Golf Club is at 1333 Dorval Drive. Visit Oakville describes it as an 18-hole championship course designed by Jack Nicklaus, opened in 1976, with a clubhouse, instruction and a dining room. It is the best-known course in the town, and it is the reason many visiting golfers book a day here.

Golf guides describe the valley holes in the middle of the round, which run along Sixteen Mile Creek, as the distinctive stretch, and that is worth knowing before you plan the day: a course with significant elevation change and a creek valley is a course where the round tends to run long. Build slack into the pickup time.

For the car, the practical points are:

  • Arrival. The chauffeur takes you to the clubhouse area. The club sets its own bag-drop and cart rules, and the chauffeur confirms the exact stopping point with you when you arrive, because it can differ for tournaments and busy weekends.
  • Bags. Most clubs let you unload bags at the bag-drop area and carry on to the parking area; your chauffeur can help with the unloading.
  • Pickup. Plan the pickup time around the end of your round, plus a buffer for a drink or a meal at the clubhouse, rather than around the tee time alone.

Oakville Executive Golf Courses

Oakville Executive Golf Courses are at 4414 Fourth Line in North Oakville. The town describes two public golf courses maintained to private-club standards, with Sixteen Mile Creek and its valley running alongside both. The two layouts are Angel's View, a nine-hole course, par 36, and Mystic Ridge, an 18-hole course, par 63, according to Visit Oakville's listing.

This is the more relaxed option: a shorter round, a quicker pace, and a good place for a group that includes beginners, juniors or a mix of abilities. A quick round on the nine-hole layout also fits into a half-day booking, which makes it a good fit for an hourly chauffeur booking.

The course is in North Oakville, so the drive leaves the QEW for regional roads. Your chauffeur picks the best route on the day, because road work and traffic change the best choice.

Deerfield, the ranges and the indoor option

Visit Oakville also lists Deerfield Golf Club at 2363 North Service Road West, with a pro shop, practice areas and a clubhouse. For practice, the same listing names:

Car headlights on a snowy forest road

  • Tee Zone Driving Range, 4105 Regional Road 25, with over 50 hitting stations on grass and mats, target greens, practice bunkers and a short-game area.
  • Vic Hadfield Golf & Learning Centre, 340 Burnhamthorpe Road East, with over 120 grass and mat tee areas, a short-game area and professional instruction.
  • Oakville Indoor Golf Centre, 1330 Burnhamthorpe Road East, with simulators for virtual versions of famous courses, plus coaching and practice sessions.

The indoor centre is the answer for a winter group: Ontario golf is a seasonal game, and a simulator session followed by dinner is a good day out in January. Hours and bookings are each facility's own, so check them directly.

How far is Oakville from Toronto, Pearson and the rest of the GTA?

Oakville is on the north shore of Lake Ontario, on the QEW between Mississauga and Burlington. The planning numbers are:

  • Downtown Toronto to Oakville: about 40 km by road. The Town of Oakville describes the town as about 30 minutes from downtown in good conditions; at busy times plan 40 to 60 minutes. The QEW and the Gardiner Expressway carry most of the traffic.
  • Pearson to Oakville: the Town of Oakville says Toronto Pearson is about 40 km from Oakville, roughly 25 minutes in good conditions; allow more at rush hour. Our Pearson airport limo page covers the pickup procedure.
  • Mississauga to Oakville: the next city east on the QEW. See our Mississauga limo service page if your group is starting there.
  • Burlington to Oakville: the next city west. See our Burlington limo service page.

Weekday afternoons and Friday evenings are the slow times on the QEW, particularly eastbound toward Toronto, so a tee time followed by a return to the city should not assume the road is clear. The booker shows the exact fare and the route timing for your pickup address, and the dispatch desk can advise on timing.

How the car, the clubs and the tee time fit together

Work backwards from the tee time. A typical sequence looks like this:

Business traveller in a suit carrying a briefcase
Business traveller in a suit carrying a briefcase
  1. Tee time. Fixed by the course.
  2. Arrive at the club 45 to 60 minutes earlier. Check in, warm up and, if needed, stop at the pro shop.
  3. Departure from home or hotel. Subtract the drive time, then add a margin. From downtown Toronto, allow about an hour with a margin; from Pearson, somewhat less.
  4. Pickup after the round. Round times vary; ask the pro shop how long a round typically runs on the day.

Tell the booker how many people and how many golf bags you have, and the right vehicle is chosen from that. The vehicle classes are:

  • Executive Sedan: up to 3 passengers and 2 large plus 2 carry-on bags. A foursome does not fit this one.
  • Luxury SUV: six seats and space for five or six full-size cases. A good fit for a foursome with bags.
  • Executive Sprinter: 12 to 14 passengers and 12 or more large bags, for a corporate outing, a large stag or a charity day.

Because golf bags are bulky, tell us the exact number at booking rather than the number of people only. The vehicle and its fit are confirmed at booking.

The curb: bag drop, parking and where the car waits

  • Clubhouse drop-off. Clubs use a bag-drop area close to the pro shop. The chauffeur unloads, you check in and the car moves to the parking area or waits nearby, depending on the booking.
  • Waiting. For a round of golf the car does not stand at the curb. With an hourly booking, the chauffeur stays within reach, usually in the club's parking area. With a one-way transfer, there is a fixed pickup time instead.
  • At the clubhouse. Many golfers like a drink or a meal after the round. Alcohol rules follow Ontario law, and any questions about drinks on board are confirmed at booking. If the group will drink at the clubhouse, a chauffeur home is the sensible plan.
  • Winter and shoulder season. Courses may close or reduce services, and the indoor centres become the better choice. Ask each club before you assume a facility is open.

A sample golf day, hour by hour

This one assumes a group of four from downtown Toronto, a mid-morning tee time, and a dinner back in the city.

Passenger van with its doors open and a driver beside it
Passenger van with its doors open and a driver beside it
  1. Morning pickup in Toronto. Allow an hour to the club and a margin of 15 to 30 minutes for traffic.
  2. Arrive at Oakville and check in. Bag drop, check-in, warm-up.
  3. Round of golf. The pace of the course and the weather decide how long this runs.
  4. Clubhouse lunch or drink. Let the chauffeur know if the plan changes.
  5. Pickup and return to Toronto. Allow for QEW traffic in the afternoon.
  6. Dinner in Toronto. Our limo service in Toronto page covers evening plans, and the car can continue as part of the same booking.

For a long day like this, an hourly chauffeur booking is usually a better fit than a one-way transfer, since the car and the chauffeur stay with your group for the full duration.

Groups, corporate outings and who this suits

A foursome is the simplest case. For a larger group, such as a corporate outing, a charity tournament, a stag or a birthday, the Executive Sprinter seats 12 to 14, and for larger parties a mini-coach (20 to 30 passengers, hourly) is confirmed at booking. Availability and the exact vehicle for any stretch, party bus or coach are confirmed at booking.

For a corporate day, a single arrival time and a single pickup time keep the group together and the schedule honest. Tell the booker about the group size, the bags and any members who will arrive separately.

Seasons, weather and the GO construction

Golf in this part of Ontario is a seasonal game, and the clubs set their own opening and closing dates. A rain delay or a weather closure is the club's decision, so ask the pro shop about its weather policy before you commit to a late tee time.

On the transit side, Metrolinx is rebuilding parts of Oakville GO Station. Its project page says construction contracts were awarded in April 2026 and lists the closure of the existing Platform 1 and a realigned passenger pick-up and drop-off exit among the works. That affects anyone who plans to arrive by train, so check the current notices on the Metrolinx Oakville GO project page before you travel.

Honest alternatives: GO train, your own car or a shuttle

Here is how the realistic options compare for a golf day.

OptionTypical timeCost noteBest for
Chauffeured carAbout 40 km from downtown Toronto; roughly 30 to 60 minutes depending on trafficFixed fare via booker, quoted before you payA foursome with bags, a group that will drink at the clubhouse, door-to-door
GO train (Lakeshore West) to Oakville, then a ride30 to 45 minutes to downtown on all-day serviceLowest for the train legA solo golfer with a light bag who does not mind a connection
Own carRoughly 30 to 60 minutesFuel and parkingA local golfer who plans to drive home sober
Taxi or rideshareSame road time as the carMeter plus possible surgeA single one-way trip, with bags that fit the vehicle

The Town of Oakville says GO trains between Oakville and downtown Toronto leave every 5 to 15 minutes, with a total trip time of 30 to 45 minutes. That is useful, but the courses themselves are away from the station, so a golf day by train still needs a car for the last leg, and a golf bag on a train is awkward. The honest summary: if you are travelling light and alone, the train plus a short ride works. If you have a foursome, clubs and an afternoon at the clubhouse, the car wins.
