What Evergreen Brick Works is and why events land there
Evergreen Brick Works is a former industrial brickyard in the Don Valley that now hosts weddings, events and daily visitors, and its official site says it is open daily all year round. Its own description is of a "truly unique setting for weddings and events", set in the ravines that thread through central Toronto. The address for visitors is 550 Bayview Avenue.
That setting is the reason couples, planners and corporate hosts choose it, and also the reason arrival needs a plan. This is a valley site rather than a downtown block. There is one main road in, the parking lots are limited, parking on Bayview Avenue itself is not permitted, and every journey ends on Bayview Avenue, fed by the Don Valley Parkway exit, River Street and Pottery Road.
This guide is written from the curb: how the road works, what the venue publishes about getting there, and how a chauffeur sequences guests, couples and suppliers. If you want the car sorted first, the booker is below.
How do you get to Evergreen Brick Works by car?

Drive to 550 Bayview Avenue: from downtown take River Street north from King Street, which joins Bayview just north of Gerrard; from the Don Valley Parkway take the Bloor Street/Bayview Avenue exit and head north on Bayview for about 300 metres. Parking on Bayview Avenue is not permitted.
Those directions come from the venue's own getting here page. Drivers coming from East York can also use Pottery Road and then travel south on Bayview for about 700 metres, with the site on the right.
For a chauffeured trip, the same routes apply, but we choose between them on the day. Rain, a Parkway closure or a collision on the Bloor ramps can flip the best route in minutes. Dispatch checks live conditions before the pickup and the driver confirms the plan with you.
Distances and drive times from downtown, Pearson and the GTA
Evergreen Brick Works is about 6 km from Union Station, roughly 11 minutes in light traffic, more in the evening rush when the Parkway and Bayview are both under load. From the Distillery District it is about 5 km and ten minutes. From Massey Hall it is about the same.
From Pearson Terminal 1 the drive is about 39 km, 40 minutes on mapping data and often 55 to 75 minutes in the Friday afternoon rush or a Parkway slowdown. The longer ride is the reason out-of-town wedding guests are better collected by a flight-tracked pickup than left to find their own way: see the Pearson airport limo page for how arrivals are handled.
| From | Distance to 550 Bayview Ave | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Union Station | about 6 km | 12-30 minutes |
| Distillery District | about 5 km | 10-25 minutes |
| Massey Hall area | about 5 km | 10-25 minutes |
| Pearson Terminal 1 | about 39 km | 45-80 minutes |
| Mississauga or Brampton | roughly 40-55 km | 50-90 minutes |
| Markham or Vaughan | roughly 30-40 km | 40-75 minutes |
Distances are from open mapping data. The valley is ordinary Toronto traffic with extra tension, so add a buffer on weekends and event evenings.
The arrival reality: lots, curbs and what a chauffeur can and cannot do
The venue publishes three on-site lots operated by a parking company, with paid parking seven days a week. It also warns that the lots fill quickly on Saturdays and Sundays and that parking is not permitted on Bayview Avenue. For a car service, the Bayview rule is the key sentence: a chauffeur cannot simply stop on the avenue and wait for you.

In practice this makes the staging plan look like this:
- Guests, the couple or the delegation are set down at the entry the event coordinator names, as close to the doors as site rules and the flow of other vehicles allow.
- The car then moves to a lot or an agreed holding spot until it is needed again.
- For a transfer at the end of the night, the chauffeur is on call by message and returns to the pickup point when you are ready, rather than idling at the curb.
If you are hiring the venue for an event, ask the venue's event team which entry suppliers and guest vehicles use, whether there is any staging area for vehicles during the event, and who to contact on the day. We recommend giving your chauffeur that contact. The chauffeur confirms the exact drop-off point on the day.
When to go: season, timing and the weekend squeeze
Brick Works is open every day of the year, so weddings and events run in all seasons. The pattern we see from the curb is that the pinch point is Saturday and Sunday afternoon, because the same lots serve visitors and events. The Bayview approach from either end also slows when the weather turns, so an event with a hard start time should assume a longer approach in rain or snow.
If your event is a weekday corporate function, the issue flips: the Parkway and Bayview are busiest at the morning and evening commutes. A 9 am start with a 7:30 am pickup downtown will be gentler than a 5 pm start with a 3 pm pickup.
For winter or shoulder-season events, check the venue's current notices before travel, and do not assume an outdoor path is clear because it was in summer.
Wedding day logistics: the couple, the party and the suppliers
Brick Works weddings often have two or three moving pieces: a ceremony in one part of the site, portraits in the valley, and a reception. Move the people in the right order.

- Suppliers first. Florists, caterers and musicians arrive well before guests and need access to a loading area. Ask the venue where they should go; do not send them to the guest drop-off.
- The wedding party second. A single vehicle for the group reduces the number of cars at the curb. A Sprinter carries 12 to 14 passengers; the wedding limo service page explains how multi-vehicle weddings are built.
- The couple last. Arriving after the guests are seated keeps the entrance clean and gives the photographer a clear approach.
If the couple wants valley portraits before the ceremony, schedule them early and keep the car nearby. The route out of the valley is Bayview north or south; an unexpected closure or a long train of vehicles can add ten minutes without anyone doing anything wrong.
On alcohol, the rule on board follows Ontario law and is confirmed at booking; we do not promise drinks in the car.
For a couple who also want portraits in the Distillery District, our Distillery District wedding photo guide covers the cobblestones and parking entrances at that location. The two sites are about 5 km apart, and a day that links them suits an hourly chauffeur booking, with the car and driver kept with you between stops. For a quieter culture afternoon in the same part of town, see our Aga Khan Museum and Don Mills guide; for a shopping-and-museum day downtown, the ROM and Yorkville guide.
Corporate events, launches and conferences
Corporate hosts use the site for meetings, launches and team days, where the transport problem is different: everyone arrives within a 30-minute window, and many want to leave at the same moment. A single Sprinter or mini-coach is a better fit than ten taxis that hit the Bayview approach at once. Mini-coach and party bus capacity is 20 to 30 passengers, hourly, with the exact vehicle confirmed at booking.
For a group coming from a downtown hotel, the free public shuttle the venue operates from Broadview Station can serve staff who are happy to use transit, while senior guests and speakers take a car. Our event transportation page describes how we run staggered arrivals, and our executive sedan and SUV classes handle the VIPs.
Getting there by TTC, the venue shuttle and bicycle
The honest alternatives are good, and several are free or lower cost than a car.

Evergreen runs a free shuttle that operates seven days a week, all year round, between Broadview Station and the Brick Works, departing every 30 to 45 minutes from the Broadview Subway Station Parkette on Erindale Avenue. It does not run on 25 December or 1 January. The venue also lists the 28 Bayview South bus from Davisville station (trip planning is on the TTC website), with service hours of 6 am to 1 am Monday to Saturday and 8 am to 6 pm on Sundays. Both details are as of 2026 on the venue's page; check it again before travel.
| Option | Time | Cost note | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Venue shuttle from Broadview Station | 30-45 minute frequency | free | Day visitors, guests who are happy with transit |
| 28 Bayview South bus | check the TTC planner | lowest | Visitors from Davisville and the Yonge line |
| Cycling the valley trails | varies | free | Fit riders on a dry day; not formal wear |
| Park in the on-site lots | 15-25 minutes from downtown | paid, limited, full on weekends | Day visitors who arrive early |
| Taxi or rideshare | 11-30 minutes | meter plus surge | One or two guests; pickup is harder at night |
| Private chauffeur | 11-30 minutes | fixed fare via booker | Couples, speakers, VIPs, groups with a hard start time |
For a casual weekday visit, the shuttle is better than a car. For a formal event, guests in evening wear, groups with luggage or anyone who needs a guaranteed return at a set time, a chauffeur wins.
Accessibility, strollers and families
The site is set in a ravine and a lot of it is outdoors. Guests who use mobility aids should ask the venue about the closest drop-off to the entrance that suits them, and then pass that to us so the chauffeur knows where to go. Child, toddler and booster seats are available when requested at booking; see the car seat limo page for how this works.
For an event with older relatives, we suggest one dedicated vehicle for the relatives, with a driver who stays within reach and returns when the guests are ready. It keeps the stress low for them and for you.
Weather and winter: what changes in the valley
Rain and snow slow the Don Valley approaches more than they slow the downtown grid. Ice on the ramps is a bigger issue than snow on the main road, and the lots are less forgiving than a hotel porte-cochere. A Luxury SUV is often a better choice than a stretch for a winter shoot because of ground clearance and cabin space for coats, though stretch limousines remain an option; availability and the exact vehicle are confirmed at booking.
On a rainy summer day, remember that the walking distance from car to door is where the weather hits. Tell the chauffeur if you have a gown, a train or a cake, and they will stage as near the entry as the site allows.
