BMO Field is a stadium where the train is hard to beat. The ground sits inside Exhibition Place, along the lakeshore west of downtown, and the GO station is about a two-minute walk from the gates. That does not make a car pointless. It means the car should be used for the parts of the trip where it earns its keep: the airport leg, the group of ten, the family with a toddler, the late exit when trains are thin.
This guide is written from the kerb at Exhibition Place. It covers where the stadium is and what shares the grounds, how long the drive takes from Pearson and downtown, the GO and TTC options published by the operators, how a chauffeur handles drop-off, and a plan for the walk to the car after the final whistle.
How do you get to BMO Field on a match day?
The simplest way to reach BMO Field is a GO train from Union Station to Exhibition GO Station, roughly a two-minute walk from the stadium. By limo, ask your chauffeur to drop you at the edge of Exhibition Place and meet you on a quieter road after the match. From Pearson it is about 23 km.
Both options work. GO is cheapest and avoids the roads around the grounds entirely. A private car costs more but collects you from the door, takes a group in one vehicle and is not tied to a train timetable. Pick by group size, luggage and how late the match runs, not by habit. When you are ready to price a car, get an instant fare and the booker shows the exact fare for your address before you confirm.
BMO Field and Exhibition Place: what is where
BMO Field's address, according to the TTC, is 170 Princes' Boulevard. Exhibition Place itself is at 100 Princes' Boulevard and, in its own words, covers 192 acres of waterfront land that hosts events all year. The Enercare Centre exhibit halls, the Automotive Building and other venues share the grounds, which is why the road network feels busy even when the stadium is quiet.

For 2026, the stadium was adapted for the FIFA World Cup, when Toronto's matches were played there under the name Toronto Stadium. Toronto FC's season announcement says the ground returned to the club in early August after the deconstruction phase. It is BMO Field again for domestic play.
The practical point for a driver is that the stadium is reached by several gates and roads, and the one that is open or closed on a given day depends on what else is on. Check Exhibition Place's official site before a big match, a trade show or the late-summer fair.
Who plays here, and when
Toronto FC plays its home matches at BMO Field. The club's 2026 schedule announcement shows the MLS regular season running to Decision Day on Saturday, 7 November, with an extended pause around the World Cup, and playoffs following. Kick-off times vary through the year, from afternoon starts early in the season to evening starts later. The Toronto Argonauts of the CFL also play at BMO Field, with their season running through the summer and autumn, and a few 2026 home dates were moved elsewhere because of the World Cup.
We never quote match dates or times on this page. They change, and the clubs publish them. Check torontofc.ca for soccer and the Argonauts' own site for football before you book, and tell the booker the kick-off time so dispatch can plan around it.
If your visit coincides with the late-summer fair, our guide to the CNE in its final weeks covers the Exhibition Place gates and evening pickups, and the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair covers the November crowd.
Driving in: Pearson, Union Station and the 905
The stadium is closer to downtown than most visitors expect. Typical trips by car:

- Pearson to Exhibition Place: about 23 km. A route estimate puts the drive at around 18 minutes in light traffic, and we allow 25–45 minutes on a match evening, when the Gardiner is busy.
- Union Station to BMO Field: roughly 4 km, about 10–20 minutes depending on Lake Shore Boulevard and the lights.
- Mississauga City Centre to Exhibition Place: roughly 25 km along the QEW and Gardiner, 25–45 minutes. See our limo service in Mississauga page for those pickups.
The Gardiner Expressway and Lake Shore Boulevard are the approach roads. On an evening match both fill with fans in the same hour as commuters, so the safe plan is to leave earlier than the map suggests and accept a slow final kilometre.
Why GO often wins: Exhibition GO Station
GO Transit's own BMO Field page names Exhibition GO Station as the closest station and says the walk is about two minutes. Exit on the south side of the station and walk south. The station is on the Lakeshore line, the first stop west of Union Station. The page does not publish an event-day timetable, so check the schedule for your date; the Ontario Place concert venue nearby says Lakeshore trains run about every 30 minutes.
Practical points:
- Check your return train before you buy the ticket. A late match can finish after the sensible last train.
- Large events bring enhanced security screening and designated entry points, according to GO Transit's page, so arrive early.
- If track work affects your line, GO warns on the same page; look before you travel.
Read the full details at GO Transit's BMO Field page. For a family or a group that wants a single door-to-door journey, the car becomes more attractive at this point, not less.
The TTC options, and why to check first
The TTC publishes a BMO Field routing page for matches. The pattern it describes: from Union Station, a 509 Harbourfront service runs to Exhibition Loop; from Dufferin Station on Line 2, the 29 Dufferin or 929 Dufferin Express bus runs south to Dufferin Gate Loop; and from King Station a King replacement bus runs west to the Atlantic Avenue stop, from where you walk south. In each case you follow signage from the loop to the venue.
The TTC page also shows that service on these routes has been changed often, with replacement buses for streetcars during infrastructure work. Treat any route you read here as a starting point and confirm the live service at ttc.ca before you leave. Fares include a two-hour transfer window, and the TTC lets children 12 and under ride free.
Car drop-off at the grounds
Exhibition Place and BMO Field do not publish a private-hire zone that we can point to. What a chauffeur does in practice is follow the traffic officers and the signs that day. The usual approach is to stop briefly near the edge of the grounds, let you out, and move on; the walk to the gates from there is short.
Two things help:
- Tell us the gate on your ticket. Clubs show a designated entry gate on mobile tickets. If you know it, your chauffeur can aim for the nearest approach.
- Do not ask for a drop-off at the gate itself. On a busy match the roads inside the grounds are for fans on foot and for service vehicles. A drop-off a few hundred metres away is quicker.
Allow ten minutes more than you think for the final stretch. The queue to enter is often longer than the queue to arrive.
The pickup plan after the final whistle
This is the part that goes wrong without a plan. Thousands of people walk to the same station and the same few roads in the same twenty minutes.

- Pick a meeting point at the edge of the crowd. Choose a quieter road outside the busiest approach, agreed with your chauffeur on the day, not at the stadium gates.
- Leave through the side that is not the station. Most fans head for Exhibition GO Station. If you are walking to a car, the opposite direction is calmer.
- Wait out the first ten minutes. Stay for a coffee or a last look at the pitch, then walk once the pavement has loosened.
- Message the chauffeur at the exit, not before. A call from a packed concourse is hard to hear.
- Keep a fallback. If the meeting road is closed, Exhibition GO Station is nearby.
Cancellations are measured from the scheduled pickup time. More than 72 hours' notice is free; 72 hours or less is 10%; 48 hours or less is 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show is 100%. If extra time is possible, tell dispatch and we will hold the pickup.
Parking, and why it is not the answer
AFC Toronto's supporters' guide describes match-day parking as extremely limited and recommends public transit. Exhibition Place says the Enercare Centre has 1,280 on-site parking spaces, but whether any particular lot is open for a given match depends on what else is on the grounds. Do not assume a space is available.
If you do drive, arrive early, expect a slow exit and know that a pre-booked space does not change the traffic on Lake Shore Boulevard or the Gardiner afterwards. For most fans the plan of GO in and car out, or car in and GO out, solves the worst half of the journey.
Groups, supporter nights and party buses
Soccer and football bring groups: a birthday, a staff outing, a dozen friends. For a group the vehicle choice matters more than the route.

- Executive Sedan: up to 3 passengers, 2 large and 2 carry-on bags.
- Luxury SUV: up to 6 passengers, 5–6 large bags.
- Executive Sprinter: 12–14 passengers, 12+ bags.
- Stretch Limousine: 8–10 passengers, booked hourly.
- Mini-coach or party bus: 20–30 passengers, booked hourly.
Stretch limousines, party buses and coaches depend on availability and the exact vehicle is confirmed at booking. See our party bus in Toronto page and the concert and sports limo service page for the details. Alcohol rules follow Ontario law and are confirmed at booking; we do not promise drinks on board.
Families, accessibility and cold-weather matches
Children, strollers and mobility needs all make the car more attractive. Child, toddler and booster seats are provided when you request them at booking. If someone in your party needs assistance, tell us when you book, and read the club's accessibility information for entrances and seating, because those are set by the venue.
Late-season matches can be cold. The walk between a GO platform, a stadium and a car is mostly outdoors, so dress for the weather and allow a few extra minutes in snow or rain. Match-day lights and crowds make the road home slower than a normal evening.
Honest comparison: train, bus, rideshare or car
| Option | Typical time | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| GO train, Union to Exhibition GO | Short ride, then about a 2-minute walk | Lowest | Most fans coming from downtown or a GO line |
| TTC streetcar or bus | Depends on route and service | Lowest | Fans living along the 509, 29 or 504 corridors |
| Walking from downtown | Roughly 45–60 minutes | Free | Fit fans in good weather |
| Taxi or rideshare | 25–45 minutes from Pearson | Meter plus surge | Short trips off-peak |
| Private black car or limousine | 25–45 minutes from Pearson | Fixed fare via booker | Groups, families, luggage and late exits |
If you live downtown and travel light, take GO and walk. If you arrive at Pearson that day, carry luggage, or have a group, the car is simpler. The UP Express site states the airport-to-downtown ride takes 28 minutes, and you would then change to GO. Our Pearson airport limo page covers the airport end, and the Union Station car service page covers the downtown hub.
A match-day checklist
- Check the kick-off time and the gate on your ticket.
- Decide: GO, TTC, car or a mix.
- If you want the car, book and add the kick-off time.
- Agree a meeting point at the edge of the crowd.
- Check live service on GO and the TTC before you leave.
